BREAKING DOWN THE MYTHS OF PRIVATE INVESTIGATION.

BREAKING DOWN THE MYTHS OF PRIVATE INVESTIGATION.

TV and film will always present private investigation as being headed up by a dysfunctional but brilliant PI with “issues” and the stereotypical trench-coat, dirty office and glass door with their name etched on it… doing whatever it takes to secure the leads needed to ‘break the case wide open’, etc. They’re breaking into places and stealing evidence whenever the need or the plot requires it.

It’s decidedly ‘un-entertaining’ to reveal this but Surmount Investigations’ jobs (and the investigatory profession overall) is a lot less ‘easy’ and exciting.

CHEATING PARTNERS: THE IMPORTANCE OF GATHERING ALL THE FACTS.

CHEATING PARTNERS: THE IMPORTANCE OF GATHERING ALL THE FACTS.

We understand that – whether it be through texts or emails you’ve seen that raise a red flag, being told something by someone you trust or experiencing a change in their behaviour that doesn’t quite make sense – believing a partner to be cheating on you can be incredibly upsetting and getting proof is often not easy.

But it’s always important to get those suspicions checked because the signs you’re seeing may not be an indication of what you think is truly going on in your relationship. Read more about CHEATING PARTNERS: THE IMPORTANCE OF GATHERING ALL THE FACTS.

Data Breaches, Newcastle City Council and Contradictory Control Measures.

Regular readers of the Surmount blog will recall our entry back in November 2017 in relation to the conduct of Newcastle City Council and the poor and concerning manner in which they handle confidential data.

The matter stemmed from a now infamous data breach at the hands of Newcastle City Council which was the result of a bulk email sent in June of 2017 to 77 recipients that led to the disclosure of various personal details such as home addresses, dates of birth and so on of adopting parents and adopted children. Supporting Landlords And Letting Agents In The North East

repossession propertyOur Newcastle based Landlord client had a property portfolio that included a number of varying-sized residential properties throughout the region along with some commercial units. At one of his fully furnished residential properties he was reaching the end of his tether with his tenant, a female in her late twenties that we’ll call ‘Carol’.

‘Carol’ was behind in her rent by months and starting to ignore our client’s attempts to get in touch with her and facilitate payment. Things had reached such a point that an eviction notice had been served and ‘Carol’ was required to pack up and leave. Read more about Supporting Landlords And Letting Agents In The North East

Tracing Someone: An Explanation of the Legalities

We receive many, many enquiries a week from people looking to trace individuals for a multitude of reasons and we have an incredibly high standard as to whether we take the case on or not.

The Importance of Initial Due Diligence Checks.

The Importance of Initial Due Diligence Checks.

We were minutes away from shutting up our doors last thing on a Friday night after 9 straight days of sixteen hour shifts across the whole of Newcastle, Northumberland, down as far as Middlesborough, up as far as Berwick and pretty much very where else in between. We were broken and, in the case of this particular investigator, looking forward to the five consecutive days off that were planned and minutes away from kicking in.

Then the phone rang:

“Hi. Are you the so-called private investigator that abducted my client’s son from somewhere called ‘The Metrocentre’ this morning and caused my client to get arrested?”

No. We most certainly weren’t……………. But let’s flash back four days: Read more about The Importance of Initial Due Diligence Checks.

Solicitor Support: An ‘Agent-Led Trace’ Case Study

Solicitor Support: An ‘Agent-Led Trace’ Case Study

We offer a variety of different support services to solicitors and law firms throughout Newcastle, Tyne and Wear and the rest of the North East. The two that we are most prolifically engaged for service on is our process serving and our various types of people tracing. This week we’re going to look at a successful agent-led trace we carried out for one of our solicitor clients on a particularly slippery character.

An agent-led trace is different to the electronic trace we carry out, although the latter IS the most common we’re asked to do. Read more about Solicitor Support: An ‘Agent-Led Trace’ Case Study
